I tried to use Disk Utility to scan an external drive, but it failed. The reason was that it could not unmount the drive. Then I did a sudo lsof | grep /Volumes/my-harddrive-name, where my-harddrive-name is the name of the hard drive. Then I found there were 20-30 QuickLook processes reading various files on that drive.

I don't know what was reading these files. Is there a way that I can stop it? The Mac Pro runs Catalina OSX.
