Good work everyone!
We will definitely get to 5,000,000,000 much quicker than 4 --- I think.

Imean, YES... Yes we'll hit 5 Bill faster than 4. Let's keep on Folding.

Both of my machines have been shut down for a while now so my production has been in the dirt.

so right now i'm folding with a 1080 and 980. i may have an opportunity to trade my 1080 for 2 980Tis.

does this sound like a good deal for folding?

Not sure. better deal would be to get a second 1070 or 1080 ... let alone from power draw point of view and heat production. Are those 980Ti used and the 1080 is new ? still I aim more for less and power effective cards.

My 980Ti (MSI SeaHawk) is on par in performance with MSI 1070 Gaming X

Yeah my 980Ti's are roughly the same output as a GTX1070FE yet use more power.

I did pay less than $400 each for my EVGA 980 Ti SC+ cards.

If I get another card in the future it will be the 1080Ti...I have no idea when that will be but if/when I do, that will be it.

thanks guys. the deal ended up falling apart and didn't happen. so I'm sticking with my 1080 and 980 for now. I might try to start up an old pc and re-arrange to get some old cards working, now that the weather is cooling off.

Since mine wasn't running for a while I decided to look into if turning the dual 980Ti machine would even work as a hackintosh.
To my surprise, after a little bit of work, this thing is crazy quick.

I'll know this isn't the place but I don't think this forum has a place for it so I may start a thread elsewhere.... AND I still wish Macs could GPU fold.

But the 6700k in this machine outpaces the 6700k in my 2015 iMac.
I've only tested with Geekbench 4 so, based off of one test it is doing good.
A single 980Ti also compeltely destroys on the compute benchmark, compared to the m395X in the iMac which is figured was going to happen but the M395X outpaced the D500 in my 2013 Mac Pro at work.

I am not 100% on what the benchmark numbers even mean but...

CPU Results
MacPro 6 Core 15,609
iMac 6700k 16,309
CustoMac 6700k 18,526

GPU results
MacPro D500 71,210
iMac M395X 88,523
CustoMac 980Ti 152,909

So just wanted to toss that out there.

I think I will be at least getting the i5, GTX1070 machine back up and running/folding very soon.

The whole reason for even doing this Hackintosh is my wife is getting sick and tired of Windows at out office.
At home she runs macOS and then Win10 in Parallels and has been hounding me to make this work... at work.
She's been on a baby 2014 Mac Mini and I just don't think it will have the horsepower to run both OS's at the same time decently.

The idea was to take her home setup and move it to work, give her my current 5k iMac (she has my older 2013 27" iMac) and me see if this hackintosh will work as my main home desktop for a while.

I'm just trying to make something work without buying any new hardware for the next few months.
Anyway I know this was a fairly long post and lots of info but that's where I'm at at the moment. Again hoping to just get that 1070 outputting some numbers again soon.

awesome! maybe one of these days, if I ever get around to building/buying a new pc, maybe I'll try hackintosh.

that 1070 will do just fine! :) hope you get it up and running soon!

Well. Folding is back for me. One GPU at the moment. The 1070FE.

I'm thinking of putting the 980ti into that machine and pushing it as well. One of my other 980ti seems to be going out. It would fold a little but would crash randomly, no video output from it either on any ports.

glad you are back! what kind of ppd are you getting with the 1070? is it putting up over 400k ppd by itself?

as for the problems, i was having major problems also. i ended up installing the new nvidia drivers and then folding started working again with no errors. so might wanna give that a try.

also, right now i'm only folding with a 780 and a 980, but somehow the 780 is putting out like 300k ppd with the 980 is only like 150k ppd, they are both in the same system, and the 980 is in a 16x slot. no idea what's going on here.

i did finally buy a new rig. it's got a 1080 and 1070, but haven't started folding with it yet. we'll see if i start soon or not....

I think you face the GPU-detection issue. The 780 would make 150k; the 980 with 300k seems a bit low but also depend on the core and WU you get.
You might want to reinstall the FAH stack for redoing the hardware detection or install beta version 7.4.16 ; which should also work well for that detection mix.

My 1070 (MSI gaming X, factory OC) makes between 620 and 720k; again depend on WU und running under Linux

thanks Christian! that makes sense. i finally decided to start folding with the new rig. so i should start outputting my best ever!

Yeah the 1070 does as much as a 980Ti with less power. roughly 700k give or take a little.
I just put it on water last night and is sitting at 40C after folding for 5 hours today.

so i am folding with the new rig - both the 1080 and 1070. however, i can't do anything with the rig as it's folding. everything is very laggy, even just moving the mouse around. i do not have this problem with my old rig, which is folding with a 980 and 780. what am i missing? i just have one 1440p monitor hooked up to the new rig.

Do you have the CPU folding at all? I've had that issue before and had to remove the CPU from the fold.
I've also had to uninstall graphics drivers, reinstall, restart, uninstall F@H, restart reinstall to fix things.
Just throwing ideas out.

This machine is running a 1070FE and one of the 980Ti. Roughly 1-1.4 million, depending on the WU load.

Sigh, you're going to end up "making" me get a 1080 to try and keep up.

i made sure to remove the cpu folding slot. but i guess i'll have to do some re-installing to fix it. i didn't intend for this rig to only be used for folding.

honestly, the 1080 isn't much better than a 1070, if at all. it seems at least right now, the 1070 is where its at

Yeah that's what confused me a little when I started seeing the avg PPD from the two cards. I personally thought the 1080 would be outperforming by a larger margin.
I've been holding off until I see the 1080Ti which should be right there with Titan X performance. Which is roughly 1.2 million PPD alone.
From the little bit of research I've done. The 1060 is outputting around 360,000. The 1070 almost doubles that to about 700,000. The 1080 about 800,000. Then the Titan X (and hopefully 1080Ti) goes to 1,200,000.

yeah that seems about right to me. i wonder what the 1080Ti will cost though. and how much power it will use?

The Ti is based on the same chip as the Titan, like last generation.
My best guess will be. 250W. 12B RAM. 3300 CUDA cores. 1500MHz chip, 1600MHz RAM. Maybe $800

I'm a little more interested in the new AMD Vega chip.

Rumors are it is going to outperform the TitanX in every aspect but this is still all rumors at the moment.
