Unlock the phone, tap on Safari, a web page that I was looking at in the past and closed shows up for a second and disappears, and then the websites that I left open before then show up.

Does anyone else see this? Think I've seen it on my Touch and Pad too.

It's the system photograph that is created when you close an app but it's still able to run in the background. This image is used and fades to the real image throughout the animation but there isn't suppose to be much of a difference. Some images don't get updated as often which can cause seeing an old web page to pop-up suddenly but its just a screenshot.

I find this very frustrating. It's like a tease. Remember what you were doing? Yeah that's gone time to refresh.

Safari shows a long closed page for a second before loading actual pages

So I had a page open last night and a few minutes ago when I opened safari it flickered that page for a few seconds before reloading into the existing pages. This has happened a lot since iOS 8. I am on iPhone 6 plus. It only occurs for a second but how could it open a page for second from yesterday evening when I have closed and opened at least 15-20 tabs since yesterday night .

Does this Happen to anyone else

Yes! this happens all the time since upgrading to the new iphone 6 plus and ios8. It's rather aggravating, especially when you want to show someone something and it loads up an old porn video!
I even clean out my history and website data.. anyone know if there is a way to clear out the web cache is there is a such thing?
(And yeah I watch porn, not all the time though... I have an amazing girlfriend too, she just needs to heal every once in a while you know)

Happening to me.

5C running IOS 8.1.2

Whats weird is it doesnt happen everytime I open safari. Maybe every 10 times or if I hit a link from an email and it opens safari it will flash for a second or two an old website but its not the whole page its like its half the page or shrunk its hard to explain.

But its always the same webpage every single time. I think its a virus.

yes it does look like a screen shot. So how do we get rid of it?

I also have this problem and it gets kind of annoying when I see it EVERY SINGLE TIME I open Safari on my iPad. If there is someone with a fix permanent fix, please do share!

found the cure at this thread..So Weird once i went to landscape and did the app switcher there was the picture so weird. .https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5413121?start=75&tstart=0

Close all apps besides safari, then open Safari and close all tabs so the browser just shows a blank page. Exit out by clicking the home button once. Then double click home to show your open apps, which should just be safari; the preview image should show a blank safari page, and if you click on the window with the safari app you should enter the browser and see no old web page flash, just the blank page. Exit by clicking home once, rotate the ipad 90 degrees, then repeat the exact same process- click home twice to bring up a preview window and then enter safari to see if it is the blank page or if safari is using an old cached image. If any orientation has an old page pop up, make sure to enter safari in that orientation and clear out the page. Once you have done this in all 4 orientations you should be fine. What a pain, right? And you have to do this whenever you want to clear out old safari images. It has worked for several weeks for me with the problem recurring, curious to know if this trick works for others as well. But seriously apple needs to just fix it on their end to avoid this hassle.

Apple views this as a feature, not as a problem. Because of this, it is unlikely to get changed or fixed as to Apple, nothing is broken.

Never seemed to have noticed this before but following the directions above I see what you mean. I clear my tabs prior to ending my Safari use so when double clicking I see a blank page. When I rotate to landscape and double click, I see an old page still in cache. I cleared it and its gone now but that was interesting.

What if it saves a screenshot of the juicy p0rn webpage you visited 2 days back? Then your mother in law picks up the iPad to browse and Bam!!!! She sees that page for fraction of a second? :D

It's a serious privacy issue.

Well its got to be a glitch.

How can I view a page, close it go browse a bunch of other pages and this same image comes up.

And i thought I fixed, with changing the orientation and guess what it came back again!!!

back to the drawing board.

I know exactly what you mean. It's a major bug IMO. It doesn't just happen with Safari tho. I have the same problem with PlayerXtreme. When I open it, it sometimes show a screenshot of a movie that I was watching the last time, even tho I deleted it after watching it. I thought that by closing the app (safari or PlayerXtreme would fix that, but no luck yet. IIRC, it does the same thing with the camera app back in the time, dunno if it still does it since I never use the camera.

This is not a cure. Its a work-around for something that should not happen.
