Tim Crook is a Liberal/Globalist.

It's always funny how some call out capitalism as being a bad thing when they're always purchasing the latest greatest iPhone/Computer. I assume they want the Government to pay for everything in the new socialist society.

though i get what you are trying to say, i think the word you are looking for is “liberal”
being the money-loving capitalist that he is, i’d say he is def not a “leftist”

In that regard he is a liberal

He is a leftist in that he is pro open borders , and pro international identity over identity
Of one’s country. But agreed he’s very much a capitalist unlike lots of the mouth breathing screecher communists were familiar with seeing act up on the streets.

People forget history Ross Perot said in 1992 nafta would be bad for the USA. We lost hundred of thousand of manufacturing jobs all the media did was make fun of him and his charts while running for president. Other countries have taken advantage of us for 30 year. Why do we have to be number 2? I like making a higher wage so I can buy the things that I like! other countries do now.

80% of jobs were lost by automation.
Some of the rest was simply obsolete and redundant products and services (eg. VCR repair and film developers).
Article in 2017
And one in 2019 (30 million prediction with 2024 peak rate)

And remember that Natural Gas is killing Coal, not China.

Why would it be awkward? Tim Cook has done an excellent job establishing a working relationship with Trump, even though they probably disagree on almost every political issue. You should watch this video by CNBC.

Thanks for posting this video. It's very informative.

And that last commentator was spot on: Tim Cook is the perfect Apple CEO to ride out this Trump Administration, while Steve Jobs (if he were still CEO today) would have self-destructed under a Trump-China trade war.

"Imagine the arrogant Steve Jobs being forced to kowtow to both China and Mad Dog Trump. That would never happen with Steve Jobs! He would never kowtow. Steve Jobs is not diplomatic like Cook. Jobs ego would clash directly with the President, the feud would get very personal, and the result would be crippling and destructive to Apple.

Inviting a president to tour your location to 'prove' yourself? Good luck Apple.

Ya ok,, perhaps if Donald Trump "saw" with his own eyes he may have a different opinion...

Even if Tim can pull the Mac Pro off clean,,, lets see him get away with other former products.

Why is Tim Cook associating with Trump? I don’t like it.
Like it or not, Cook's primary responsibility is to shareholders and their bottom line. Since Trump's decisions can affect that bottom line, finding ways to appease him is good business.

As much as I despise tariffs, specific companies should not receive a waiver. That creates an uneven playing field and only benefits companies who can afford that level of lobbying.

Because Cook is smart (although not about technology) and its the way America was meant to be; tolerant.

For those that have forgotten, America was founded on the principle of tolerance. Primarily on religion, but that was expanded over time and rightly so, at least until recently when nobody seems to tolerate anything they don't agree with. Which is just plain wrong. Freedom requires tolerance, totalitarianism is the opposite with no tolerance what-so-ever.

Totalitarian regimes are often characterized by political repression, a total lack of democracy, personality cultism, control over the economy, restriction of speech, and mass surveillance. Sound familiar.

A totalitarian regime attempts to control virtually all aspects of the social life, including the economy, education, art, science, private life and morals of citizens. Sound familiar.

The authoritarian state is only concerned with political power and as long as that is not contested it gives society a certain degree of liberty.

So there we have it, Republicans tend towards totalitarianism and Democrats towards authoritarian state. Both have principles of the other and neither of which are good for anyone but the elite.

Please. Tolerance of anything white men wanted. Black slaves, Native Americans' land and resources. The exploitation and marginalization of immigrants.

The so-called Christian hypocrisy is outstanding. It seems no one actually READ the Book, let alone follow it's concepts.

America was founded on capitalism-driven conquest and plunder, pure and simple. Europe and their descendants have shaped the entire world with it, and pretty much everything that is happening now is a consequence of that.

Some acknowledge the history and work to remediate the consequences. Others protect their ill-gotten wealth or their ability to get it the same way.

And capitalism is AMORAL. It is only interested in making MONEY by ANY means necessary. Thus, both Trump and Cook are on the same team. Why shouldn't they hang out?

Tim Cook doesn’t care about Americans having jobs. If Cook really cared about Americans having jobs, then Apple wouldn’t have hired the vast majority of its H-1B workers instead of Americans.

What Apple wants is talented people who work hard, notpeople who think they're too good to work and society owes them everything.

Apple wants cheap labor like all other companies in the USA or in other Countries. Also, not all H1B workers are talented, work out in US environments but they're cheap labor.

It is simple grammar.

"automation-could-eliminate-73-million-u-s-jobs"
Could applies to the amount, not the action.

"automation-will-eliminate-u-s-jobs"
In this form the certainty is true.

I will grant you the 80% loss is questionable due to large number of factors, however it is best estimate.

Again, estimated.............just more useless extrapolations. Just say you don't really know.

Get over 2016?

What exactly am I getting over in 2016? I generally like Trump. Taxing things into oblivion isn’t the answer to anything. I don’t care what side someone is on.

Oh, I know every well.
Automation does take away jobs.
That is fact.

I'll add I work for company that makes job "saving" automation machines.

Who said Automation doesn't replace physical jobs? It's projected numbers.

Again, ever hear about Chinese intellectual property theft and see what it has done to the US or are you just interested in cheap widgets.

It was not, 80% loss was the estimated past job loss based from various statistics.
There was an estimate for future looses.

Yes, going after IP transfer/theft is far more important than tariffs.

Nope, not even close.

Read the Declaration of Independence, it said "We the People", not "We the White People", not "We the Rich People", not "We the Christians", not "We the Men", and not "We the Europeans". Now, certainly there were people that took advantage, and did not have or honor these principles, and there are people today that continue that choice, but that is not what the founders intended and it was not the foundation of our country.

A little honest research will show a different and true story about the founding of America. Of course, no woke person today wants anyone reading that, because otherwise they would have to attack people like Republican and Democratic politicians that still today continue to NOT live up to the dreams and intentions of the founders of America that socialists, fascist, and communists, what to destroy.

Once our constitution is destroyed and we are almost there, we will be no better than say Uganda. And once we lose our 2nd amendment rights, we will have no rights what-so-ever. Remember the Supreme Court ruled slavery legal. They are not our saviors, only the citizens enforce our freedom by having the power to counter the rule of the elite through force.
