Apple Watch causing slight pain in arm!

I thought I was going mad until I saw a similar post on the apple forums:

I've had my 42mm SS ML since launch but whenever I wear it I get a dull pain in my arm, slight tingling and a bit of numbness! Don't understand it and thought I was going crazy but no someone else has posted a similar thing.

Has anyone experienced this with any of there AW's?

I already wear it quite loose. I do love my AW so hope its nothing serious but obviously can't continue with these pains every time I wear it.

seems like your [body] hardware is not compatible with the apple watch hardware.

defective unit is a possibility. try to get one of your friends to wear it for a day and see if they have the same issue.

Hey OP, believe it or not this may be a side affect you have to the HR sensors. I would keep an eye on it, as soon as you witness a rash or itchy sensation, remove the watch and contact apple. I too get a numbness. If it's not the HR it might be the case of you have hairy arms and the band tugs on a few hairs for a prolonged period. Causing the numbness, I'm no medic but these may be possible reasons.

Hey thanks for advice. I havent experienced any rash or skin irritation at all, just the dull Pain/ slight numbness in my wrist and upper arm. May try it on other arm to see if problem persists and if not may ask for a replacement in case of it being defective.

This is just what I was about to suggest. Wear it for a while on the other wrist and see if the problem goes away and resurfaces on the other arm.

Is it possible that the pain is coming from you holding up your arm to interact with the watch more frequently than you previously used your arm? Ie muscle fatigue from a new sort of motion?

Try removing the charge cards used to purchase from your wallet.

Sounds like a repetitive motion issue pinching a nerve. Try stretching a bit in the shoulder, bicep and wrist area.

The pain the op describes is could be this. I had my arm in a cast/brace for 7 month after it being crushed in some machinery. When I started using it again just a simple turn of my wrist caused pain. If you are not used to doing the sort of movement it takes to look at the watch it could be muscle pain.

If you try switching arms and it doesn't happen with the other arm, please see a doctor. Tingling and numbness in the arm could be something more serious, not related to the watch.

I take it this the first tim wearing a watch for many


A watch should be just tight enough to not wiggle around, doesn't need to be tight enough to cut off blood flow lol

I too have experienced this. Thought I was being shocked or something. Almost had to take off the watch. I have a friend who has also experienced the same issue, and I thought it was just me! I am very curious to what is causing this.

Not to mention, I've worn watches for about 7 years.
