I was going to join the macrumors team but it looks like PPC is not supported. Can I run an older version perhaps?

Sorry, I don't think so - the folding cores and projects that did run are long gone.

I did try and get my old G4 mac mini going again earlier this year - there are a number of BOINC projects with PPC applications but the performance was abysmal so I gave up on it.

Where would I find out about BOINC?

BOINC has a homepage at https://boinc.berkeley.edu/ with links to the client software downloads. Basically, it's an open platform for groups wanting to run distributed computing projects.

A list of projects with Mac PPC apps is available from WUProp

I had luck with Enigma and Milkyway although the client seemed to behave a bit funny with my router - I had to disable ipv6 and manually set my DNS servers in OSX to get things going.

Hope that helps
