My mac is unsupported, so I downloaded MacPostFactor and got my mac to 10.9. Now I am wondering if I can update it to 10.9.5. When I downloaded the files from the App Store, it started installing updates but when it was done it said : An error occurred, Failed to install updates. Then it didn't want to start.I had to reinstall the whole system. So I am wondering if I could somehow update my mac.

I am not sure, but first, better doing your procedure on an external (USB) device.
You don't have to install the whole system every time again if it goes wrong.
Clone your partition with Carbon copy cloner or Superduper.
Download https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1760?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
I am not sure if this works, so try it on an external device...
Also, with Pacifist you can get a look inside the 10.9.5 installer, and may try to install with pacifist as well.
Finally make sure to use Disk Utility and check file permissions on the new OS partition.
If the new system starts well, clone it back to your internal drive.
