As MC6800 mentioned the core A5 used for BA don't get anymore assignments. There was quite some heated discussion around that topic in other forums leading to leaving of a number of donors not getting the expected points anymore with the other CPU codes back that days (A3 and A4 cores). But leave that in the past.

These days a new code (A7) is the primary CPU code and I think can go until 27 core/threads without stability issue. You might get assignments for more of that.

Keep in mind that the number of slots need to be a multiple of lower primes (1,2,3). 5 might work; multiple of 7 and higher primes are not working.

yes, a bit. Primary focus is on GPU folding these days (with Core 0x21); a 1080Ti makes above 1mPPD; far less energy consumed compared to a 4P or 2P system used for BA.

CPU-folding is rated by many as not worth and moved on (e.g. to BOINC); but eventually there is also new work for CPU cores in the pipeline. If the interest is more on the science and less on the points then 0xA7 is a good choice. They also supporting newer CPU instructions like AVX.
