How to set up a cluster computer?

I am trying to make a computer cluster from some old machines I have, including x86-32 and 64, and PowerPC. How can I do this? I am not very experienced with networking. Before you tell me it's not worth the time, I am doing this for fun and to learn how. It doesn't matter that it's going to waste electricity or generate a lot of heat.
