Updating my wife’s devices. iPhone 6 Plus was just over 2 GB download. iPad Air 2 nearly 1.9 GB.

My devices are on iOS 12. Will move her devices in later stages of 12 beta.

200+MB OTA for .x.x update looks pretty big, hoping it further improves iOS11. Looking forward to 12 now...

Will be worth it for her older devices. iOS 12 makes my iPhone SE feel like it’s brand new. I’ve also heard improvements have been made to the 5s and 6 series. iOS 11 on the 6 and 6+ has not been the best.

I know it's kinda early but anyone see any Exchange improvements? Like less delay in receiving mail through the email app?

Thanks!

That's an important feature. Do the release notes specifically mention this?

As pointed by the Verge, Apple's wording about the USB restricted mode is very convoluted.. first of all it's long (almost like a paragraph on iPhone screen) and even if you knew about what it does, you still have to think whether the toggle should be On or Off. Not sure if USB restricted mode is Apple's official term (because it doesn't say so) or only reported as in media.

Apple could have simply said: Restrict USB data access after the iPhone is locked for more than an hour. You can still charge.

When you are Settings and want to quickly decide whether the toggle should be on or off, the description there is not clear, neither is this link provided.
Think of it as Allow USB = ON and Not Allow USB= off. (without password). The description below the setting also tells you if you flip it the other direction. So the default OFF will not allow USB access without entering a password.

It's clear enough to me. The settings section is labeled "Allow Access when Locked", so if the setting is on, access to USB accessories is permitted when the device is locked.

That’s exciting to hear. If it improves the 6 Plus performance wise, will be no need to look into upgrading.

Seems I already found a bug in the USB allow access when locked. I just plugged my iPhone into my Mac, and it, as expected, popped up the message to Unlock to use accessories. But, I thought Apple said this feature was going to allow charging? The phone is not charging from my Mac as it should.

It DOES charge when I plug it into a regular charger, though.

Does this mean we can't safely plug into "foreign" computers to charge our phones?

I’ll say this. On iOS 11.4, I had a lot of lag and freezing. I’ve been on 11.4.1 for about 8 hours. Hasn’t happened once. Hope it stays this way.
