don’t just assume when you have no evidence to back up your claim that this is was just a jailbreak fix.

When you install an update, it clears out all the junk files that iOS has built up. It clears the cache and just runs better. Its also possible that you have not restarted your phone in a while and it just needed a reboot.

If that’s the case, updates to tvos, macos, and watchOS wouldn’t be necessary. But they did.

The patch was made to correct a flaw in the kernel, which all three share.

Jailbreaks are but one form of exploit, but there are others that need to be guarded against as well, so the patch applies to all three OSes.

That said, I don't believe that's "literally" all this update contains, but only those with access to the build system and know what was pushed can say for sure.

Such characterizations really aren't important anyway.

It actually doesn’t. It’s just very functional, but essential management like good garbage collection, proper swap space and retention of application state when placed in the background (instead of randomly quitting apps that shouldn’t be quit) do not qualify as “good management”.

I had no profile on this phone but I downloaded the iOS 13 public beta profile and then removed it hoping it would jog my phone into seeing the new update and now it’s stuck on “update requested” on public beta 7. There’s nothing to delete in iPhone storage.

Am I missing something? Anything else I can try?

Okay, so it's not just me. I'm always reluctant to post about battery life after updates - but I'm definitely feeling it on 12.4.1 compared to 12.4. My Series 3 Apple Watch battery life has dropped with 5.3.1 as well.
