I find that File Explorer works remarkably well with Files. Unlike FileBrowser it does not require the app to be launched to access FTP in Files.app.

I can confirm that documents app does not play well with files app.
I checked it again with the new Documents 6.3 version. The problems are since iOS 11.0 not fixed (since more than 6 months).

It doesn't work well with the iOS 11 Files app.

This is pretty bad, given that documents is prolly one most popular app of all times.

Perhaps we can add here that it is finally possible to open MS Office documents directly from within the Files app. And not by copying them, but instantly editing them.

Anyone aware of any 'Multi-threaded' (not multi file) download manager ??? ... Love the ones on Android where files can be split in 5-10 portions and downloaded in parallel to accelerate the file download.

MS Office it's not a file explorer app.

Notes: You can always edit the first post, it's a wiki thread. (https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/wiki-thread-instructions.1754616/)

Here the app said under description "Multi-parted, Accelerated Downloading"
EDM - Browse and Receive Files, $3.99

Does it work?

Nope ... doesn't work ... always stuck with just 1 part even with server supporting 'Resume' ... deleted and requested refund already
Not sure if its the app or restriction on iOS side.

Has you activate under Network Settings: Multi-Part Downloading?

This is super nice. I waited for months than gave up that kind of workflow. It’s a huge feature for me

This is the app that I most hope gets updated in iOS 12. We basically need a Finder. Not fully featured but more so than this.

This is a Wiki thread, where we can list all custom file explorer/manager app the compatible with iOS 11 Files app.

This is a complete novelty for iOS. There has never been file management app. Let's hope in the future come even more features of Apple.

Use the Files app on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT206481

https://www.macrumors.com/how-to/files-app-ios-11/

Third party file explorer/manager apps the iOS Files app supports:

File Manager, free

FileApp (File Manager), free

FileBrowser, $5.99

EDM - Browse and Receive Files, $3.99

FileExplorer Pro, $4.99

An example image of how apps supports the sidebar of the iOS Files app or the section On My iPad:

Pretty sad that there are only 5 apps that have been updated to support this. Guess the file explorer devs are making some money though on the other side.

I have added to the wiki.

Where you can use this possibility (iTunes File Sharing) to add files like music, videos, pdf etc.. on your computer to the third party apps.

Is this thread only for apps that support the "On my iOS" feature? Shouldn't it also include apps to provide a FileProvider?

PDF viewer also supports it by the way. In addition, quite a few more apps support On my iOS but not also iCloud Drive natively, for example MS Office allows you to store files in the On my iPad area, and so does Pixelmator.
