Got an alternative smart folio case, the DTTO Smart Cover (folio) case. Case is well made. Silky PU material but not to the point where it is slippery.

Has lots of magnets that holds the iPad very well. In fact I dangled the iPad by holding the cover flap and the iPad did not fall off even with a little bit of jiggling. The drawback is all the magnets add weight to the case. There is no PU smell. It’s a keeper for me.

Nice find. I ended up using a voucher & going with the official Smart Folio, which is a fantastic & versatile minimalist case.

looks good. I'm planning to get this one too, at least until their are more protective options out there that are apple pencil friendly.

Thanks for posting pictures

Are the edges as sharp as the Apple Smart Folio? It's shocking that those sharp edges passed the final design.

And a nice subtle Apple logo on the back of the Smart Folio would have made it look a bit more finished. Not sure why they omitted it from the 2018 cases. If I know Apple, it's probably because they couldn't place a logo centered on the keyboard folio (due to the crease), so they also left it off the Smart Folio to be consistent.

They should have put it on the front of the keyboard folio. It list looks so plain when closed.

This could be another option for pencil users. Looks like the compartment for the pencil allows charging.

Colours other than black look really good too, for a change...

I've used this brand for iPhone cases in the past & was impressed with their quality.

That's what many of us like - plain design with no Apple logo. Don't want others knowing we have something worth stealing..

It looks like an Apple device whether it has the logo or not, LOL.

Received my Dodocase for the IPad Pro 11”. Had one for an earlier IPad and quite liked it. The case is light and well made. The Ipad is held in place by a plastic tray. I don’t use the pencil, but the sides are left open, so the pencil will charge. With the case closed, and the elastic closure used, the sides should be protected. Pics follow (sorry about the first blurry photo).

Since this year's Smart Keyboard Folio doesn't provide protection for the corners and edges, has anyone seen a solution where you pair a thin plastic or TPU case with the Smart Keyboard Folio? For example, attach the thin case to the iPad that covers the back, sides, and corners. Then, the Smart Keyboard Folio case would still attach to the back since the magnets are so strong. This would protect the corners and edges and still maintain the functionality of the smart keyboard.

Not sure this is even possible.

This isn't a case, but a skin (back & side coverage), which should still attach magnetically to the case...I'd ask them before ordering though...

I want this case but magnetic. I love how easy it is the switch between a bare iPad and a case when I leave the house.

It would work with a skin. The back of the keyboard folio has the connectors, so a case would likely be too thick to allow a connection, and I doubt there’s a case being made that has the hole for the connectors.

This is the one I ordered, as I wanted leather in order to have it last 2+ years and not worry about stains. It can be engraved and there are 3 colors of leather available. The iPad is fully exposed on all sides, with some type of removable, multiple use adhesive that attaches the device to the cover. It will be interesting to see what that is and how it works, although I seldom need to use it naked . They have these for both the 11" and 12.9".

......they also have it in linen and it is made in the US at a book bindery.

Would you please post a picture once you get it? I'm debating on this, but I like to take it in and out of the keyboard folio, and the part about the glue causes me some concern for that reason.

There is no problem with removing the iPad from the 3M strips. You can watch the video on the Pad & Quill website where they demonstrate this. Their quality is excellent as well as their customer service.
