Is there a "Tile-like" device for alerting my iPhone that I'm too far from it?

I looked at the Tile device, but it seems it's very short range and I don't think the "community find" mode will work for me.

I want to put something on my backpack and things like thumb drives that I take to client offices, and if I get too far from them (300ft or more) it alerts my iPhone so I can get them before I drive away (which happens more often than I want).

Along with "alert mode" when I'm too far, i'd like to be able to see the last place my iPhone was close to it so I know where I left it.

There are reports that Apple are working on a similar type of device. You might need to wait for that.
