I just got a 9.7 iPad Pro and upgraded it to iPadOs and really love it. It is rapidly becoming my laptop replacement, and it syncs to my iPhone XR product Red perfectly. It is so awesome to get text messages on my iPad so I can send text messages to my boyfriend all day while we are at work without the bosses knowing.

I’ve been gradually migrating most of my usage to my iPad Pro for a while now. I mainly use my laptop to back up my ios devices and for those web sites or services that just don’t quite work properly on mobile devices. Currently I only use my laptop about once a week.

There is no 9.7" iPad Pro. Only 11" and 12.9".
I'm betting OP means the 10.5. Pretty sure you can still find one of those.

As for an iPad replacing a laptop, I use my 13" rMBP and prefer it over my iPad Pro 10.5. Tried using iPad only, but I just don't like it as my daily driver.

I had the 9.7" pro until just last month. It was, and honestly still is, a great little machine! I gave it to my wife when I upgraded to the 11". She took it on her last business trip and, by day three, wasn't even using her laptop any more.

I called it Moya because... it was larger than my iPhone? My new one is called Talyn because it's like Moya but sleeker and has plasma cannons.

Yeah, the Pro 9.7 was the first iPad I used where I didn't think "I wish it was as fast as my PC."

Situation's even better now with iPadOS 13. Fewer sites that act wonky on Mobile Safari (or perhaps that ought to be not-so-Mobile Safari).

There is no 9.7" iPad Pro. Only 11" and 12.9".

The current 3rd gen iPad Pro is offered in 11" and 12.9".

1st gen iPad Pro was available in 9.7" or 12.9". (2015/2016)
2nd gen in 10.5" instead and also 12.9" (2017).

2nd gen 10.5" iPad Pro is still a popular buy and people decide between the 2nd gen 10.5" Pro and the current Air 3 10.5".

Due to pain in my arm I have been shifting away from my gaming pc in favor of an ipad. I use an air 3 now but am wanting to get the 2020 ipad pro 12.9” and go all ipad. The software outside of programming has reached that point imo. Going to travel and edit videos on it. Really excited for the big change, I am just waiting on apple to release the new models

A friend of mine somehow broke his laptop and asked if I had one he could borrow or rent, since I am using my iPad Pro for everything, I let him rent my HP ELITEBOOK 8440w, since I have not touched it since I got this iPad Pro.

Am going to do the same thing here in a couple weeks. I have a first gen Air and am leaning towards a 5th gen Mini at the moment to replace an old 11” MBA (given that my XR on iOS 13.2.3 actually runs okay, I want something with the same internals)

The iPhone XR syncs perfectly with my 9.7 iPad Pro, I have cellular so I can also use it for texting as well which is awesome.
