Hi !

It seems that the backlit is active only for a couple of seconds ( as long as I keep pressing a key ) and not always during the use of my iPad Pro. Is it intended to work that way ? I find it quite strange because if I'm in a very dark room and I don't see the keys very well, what's the purpose of having a backlit keyboard only when pressing a key ? Maybe it's like that to save battery life.

Yes, it’s a battery saving idea. I won’t say ‘feature’ as like you I find it a hindrance rather than a useful add-on.
I’ve got round to tapping on the left ctrl key to light up the keyboard before typing anything.

One thing I’ve also noticed is that if the battery for the actual keyboard starts getting low, the backlight function will disappear. You’ll still be able to type in it, but when battery is really low, backlight function doesn’t work.
