Help please - MacBook Pro (2012 Retina - A1398) keeps re-booting and/or switching off.
I'm exerienced Windows user, but sadly not IOS. My son's Macbook won't stay on longer than a few seconds before dying or rebooting.
I have tried all I can to resolve: Safe Mode, SMC Reset, NVRAM, Reset PRAM, Single User Mode, Recovery options, holding Power for 20 seconds.
All these fall over at some stage - Recovery seemed to go well, but eventually stalled.
I managed to get Diagnostics to work which reported no hardware faults - even on extended testing.
Often there is continuous hiss from speakers.
On Single User I managed to get internet connection. A few times on "successful" bootup I reached the home screen and dock and even opened a web page - but then it died. PCBs and connectors all looked healthy inside.
All done with mains power on. Have disconnected battery for 20 mins - no change.
3rd party mouse works ok, but external keyboard failed during recognition.
Having occasionally (briefly) reached successfully a web-page, I can't believe this issue is un-resolvable.
Would be very grateful for assistance - will buy you a (virtual) drink . . .
