My machine rando reboots since the update. The shutdown log refers to a software fault.

This is making me insane, I dunno if it's a conflict with software on the machine or the update itself. At least it's not referencing a hardware fault. This sucks!

I would first try some basic easy steps:
1. Make sure you have functional backup. Test it and make sure it can be read and contains current (and all) data.

2. Reboot and reset PRAM/SMC : https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204063
if you would google Mac SMC, Apple provides extensive explanation: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295

if that does not fix it:
3. Download full installer of Mojave from App Store and install over existing system, this should reinstall everything in the system. If something did not install correctly last time, this should fix it.

Nothing should get deleted in your setup & data, but check the backup in step 1 first, just in case.

If this does not fix it, may be someone here will know more about this specific error.

Get the " 6.05gb " full installer

Do a clean install to a spare SSD

The solution was to uninstall Dropbox, for some reason DB was continuously loading until the machine would stall and reboot. Removing it cleared the problem.

Just bumped into this issue myself: shutdown cause -62 - "Watchdog timer detected unresponsive application, restarting the system." must have caught it after one of the security updates for 10.13.

I have it happen about once a month now and the machine is never being shut down otherwise and was perfectly stable for more than six months before that. Yesterday I was just switching from one space to the next here and was suddenly greeted with a blank screen, followed by the system restarting. Not cool, haven't had computers do this since Win95 to me.

Anyone know how to debug this and find the culprit? I don't have Dropbox installed for example. How did people figure out that it was responsible in their cases?

Alternatively, is there a way to prevent the system from shutting down preemptively? Nothing stalling here as far as I can tell.
