And voice recognition still doesn’t work. Just keeps tell me to make sure it’s turned on in the home app. Ugh
I got mine to work by unplugging the HomePod for a few second and plugging it back it. I also toggle off the recognize my voice on my wife home app
Which setting are you talking about? On my iPhone I have a "Personal Requests" setting, but my wife doesn't have it on hers... So annoying.
It’s not working for me still
but to find The toggle u have to click the users face in the home kit app and the option to turn off and on recognition is there for each individual.
Is she on iOS 13.2?
Yes. All Homekit hubs/Homepod and phones are on the latest.
Someone on reddit posted this fix. I haven't tried it yet. https://www.reddit.com/r/HomePod/comments/dph9wq
Link doesn’t work. Can you repost it please? Thanks.
Lets see if it tries to embed this. Try this link instead.
I have the exact same issue with my wife who I have already invited to my “Home” setup. Siri won’t recognize her voice despite her accepting Recognize My Voice and Personal Requests on her phone’s Home app. On my phone, when I look at her access, the section with Recognize My Voice and Personal Requests are toggled on but that area is a bit greyed out. I’ve attached a screenshot to show what I mean. Also, no matter how many times I try to toggle on Update Listening History for her, my phone won’t register the toggle on. Very, very strange. This continues the trend of an awful year of software for Apple.
Tangentially, I’ve been hearing that some of the Apple pundits only updated their Macs to Mojave around the time that Catalina launched to the public. Frankly, I haven’t experienced many of the bugs that others have complained about with Catalina (despite a random frozen screen yesterday which never, ever happened to me before) but if I weren’t in the iPhone Upgrade Program, I would take the same approach with iOS updates. What a shame.
And now the update got released and pulled again for bricking HomePods... Not a good thing... Not a good thing at all.
They patched the issue with 13.2.1. Works great for me. Can’t say for certainty that it won’t break yours though. My iPhone and the Home app are prompting me to update my HomePod firmware.
Is it safe or is the advice still to avoid the update because of problems?
My wife and I share the same Apple ID, years ago it was just easier and the way to share apps without paying twice needlessly.
To get the new HomePod functionality where Siri can differentiate my wife from me, can we continue to share the same Apple ID? Or do we need to split up?
Split. Apple ID has never been designed with sharing in mind. Assuming you’re the “home” owner you would then invite your wife (using her own Apple ID) in the Home App.
Create a new Apple ID for your wife. Add that Apple ID to your family sharing. All the apps either u buy or have bought can then be shared.
I really don’t want to delete the home, there’s too much in it.I finale got this working by completely deleting my home and adding all my accessories and HomePod again. Idk why it was such a pain in the ass but it’s pretty cool when it works.
