I'm using MacOS Catalina on a 16" Macbook Pro. I have a folder containing about 40GB worth of pictures that I want imported into my Photos library. When I'm in Photos and click File > Import and then I select the folder I want, the import "menu" shows up where it shows all of my new photos and then when I click "Import All New Items" nothing seems to happen.

I notice at the top there is a progress circle and when I click on it there is a status bar which shows all of the photos being imported, but once that completes, my photos are nowhere to be found. I had the import set to import into "Library", but my newly imported photos are nowhere to be found. They aren't in the "Photos" tab, and the Photos tab still shows the same number of photos as I had before the import. The Import and Recents tabs both show none of these photos either.

Any idea what's going on?
