N+1=3 for me now! Woo hoo!

Wanted a bike that could go on the crushed limestone path that runs across Missouri and do light trails and grass. My family has gotten more into cycling, so I wanted something that I could ride with them and leave my road bike for training. Speaking of which, I'm working on upping the mileage and will do 56 this weekend, my longest ever.

This Chinese cheapie was mine for a couple of days on a trip to Hua Hin in Thailand..... The place I had rented an electric assist bike previously had closed, but there are plenty of shops renting bicycles in this relatively cycle friendly town (by Thai standards). Was 80 baht a day (about $US 2.50), about half the cost of renting a small motorcycle, comfortable and ideal for my purposes.

The rear brake was a band that tightens around a drum. Simple, but vicious in action; not at all progressive, it required quite a bit of finesse to avoid locking the wheel and skidding.

I finally got a new mtb bike to replace my vintage 1998 hardtail Litespeed 26” Ti frame racing bike.
This is a 2019 Trek 29” pro caliber 9.6 large frame, 1 x 12 gears. Love it already.

Had this for 2 years now, could’ve bought another with the amount of money I’ve spent on it. Want to upgrade soon.

Isn't it weird to ride it? Do you have problems getting in and out of that seat? How long did it took to grow accustomed to it?
Not at all! It’s like riding a bike :p

It’s just as easy to get in and out of, and it took maybe a few minutes of adjustment when I first started riding a recumbent, but nothing extreme. They’re extremely comfortable to ride, and I find them much more comfortable for long rides.

Banned for competition, I gather, because they are too fast!
