I should have bought the iPhone before my trip to Tasmania, I upgraded from a 6S, that’s quiet a difference I think.

This was my first picture. The very first one looks weird in terms of perspectives, no?

Whilst technically it’s not a perfect photo I still am amazed how well the iPhone coped with this difficult situation.

This is straight out of the camera no touch up. The depth map just under the sun didn’t work that well. Also a lens reflection from the sun is visible on the fingers.

Nevertheless printed as a 20x30 inch matte photo is a highlight in our living room.

Using halide to view the photo I could see what the iPhone did by viewing the depth map, portrait matte and original pre portrait version separately.
Whilst the depth map failed near the sun the portrait matte had a perfect body outline and the faces were automatically brightened to match the light from the sun. So very happy with this camera.

No editing done whatsoever. Taken with the ultra wide on full auto with the sun behind the subjects. To this day, this camera astonished me. The sun would have completely destroyed this photo in previous years.

There have been a lot of photos taken at night using Night Mode that are amazing. I wanted to see what happens when Night Mode is used on a rather foggy night.

First a photo taken with the Ultra Wide lens therefore no Night Mode.

Then one taken with the 1x lens with Night Mode. The phone was on a very sturdy tripod.

Lastly, the same setup using the telephoto lens.

It’s the ability to take decent photos in conditions like these with a cell phone that amazes me. I feel that Apple out did themselves with the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

There is no editing at all which explains the light flares such as the green circle in the last photo. But there are plenty of apps that can take care of such anomaly’s.
