Had Vietnamese food the other day
Oh, yum. Serious yum.
What exactly was each dish?
I believe it’s a roast pork bao (bun)
Thanks.
Looks mouth-watering.
And two further questions: What exactly is the second picture, and what did the (stunning looking) soup taste like?
Have had those a few times overseas. Much prefer the fried in butter variant.Georgia (in the Caucasus) also has a stunning steamed dumpling dish - khinkhali - yum.

The boat with egg thing? Only had it a handful of times when I was in the old Bloc post Bloc. It varies so wildly in quality. The best I had was dripping with excessive cheese, delicious bread and topped with pats of grass fed butter (or so they said in broken English). Worst thing I tried which I guess is some regional dish rather than particular to one country was a boiled plain dumpling rolled in powdered nuts and drizzled with honey. The contrast between flavorless and sweet was sharp and didn't play well to my taste buds. I remember a middle aged woman thrusting it in my face and motioning for me to eat it.Personally, I very much like steamed dumplings - you'll find versions of this dish across Asia.
Now, on the other hand, I was never all that partial to khachapuri.
Speaking of awful, I've got some 10 year Jelinek you should try.

Piping hot bowl of prawn noodles!
Seriously yum.
That looks absolutely and sickeningly delicious.
I love noodles, I love prawn, I love a deeply flavoursome broth.......
