Hi!

As you may have noticed, I sent you an email from your account.
This means that I have full access to your account: At the time of hacking your account(newfoundlander61@gmail.com) had this password: 81aa6a736ba30f4c699b0c066c06fa0f

You can say: this is my, but old password!
Or: I can change my password at any time!

Of course! You will be right,
but the fact is that when you change the password, my malicious code every time saved a new one!

I've been watching you for a few months now.
But the fact is that you were infected with malware through an adult site that you visited.

If you are not familiar with this, I will explain.
Trojan Virus gives me full access and control over a computer or other device.
This means that I can see everything on your screen, turn on the camera and microphone, but you do not know about it.

I also have access to all your contacts and all your correspondence from e-mail and messangers.

Why your antivirus did not detect my malware?
Answer: My malware uses the driver, I update its signatures every 4 hours so that your antivirus is silent.

I made a video showing how you satisfy yourself in the left half of the screen, and in the right half you see the video that you watched.
With one click of the mouse, I can send this video to all your emails and contacts on social networks. I can also post access to all your e-mail correspondence and messengers that you use.

If you want to prevent this, transfer the amount of $778 to my bitcoin address (if you do not know how to do this, write to Google: "Buy Bitcoin").

My bitcoin address (BTC Wallet) is: 15G9wyGRDssFXsfwEm1ihdJs2xabVPDu68

After receiving the payment, I will delete the video and you will never hear me again.
I give you 48 hours to pay.
I have a notice reading this letter, and the timer will work when you see this letter.

Filing a complaint somewhere does not make sense because this email cannot be tracked like my bitcoin address.
I do not make any mistakes.

If I find that you have shared this message with someone else, the video will be immediately distributed.
Bye!"

Is this fake? If not what is the best way to handle it. Thanks.

it is fairly east to spoof a return email address. there is an option in most mail applications to see what is called headers. if you view the headers it will show the mail server that did send the original spam that you got regardless of what spoofed email address it was sent form.

On the mac:
click message
click the View menu
go to the message sub menu
click the full header option

most of this will be in computerese but with in that will be the server that placed a marker on the email to track it to the source server. you just need to read there it.
NOTE: the server that revived the email will also be listed. this will be your server and how you got the email or you would have never seen it. so your email address and server need to be listed since they handled the email at some point. in the return path, since your email address was spoofed it will also show it as your email address and server as the source. an email that you sent to yourself will not have any notes form any outside server. However with that said, some mail apps will show slightly different information and not all of them will list the stamps left from other servers it passed threw. on the other hand it is good to sometimes look threw a header when your board just to become familiar with the data shown, if you understand it or not. so when something strange pops up you may be able to spot what's so strange about it.

No worries. I think i've only gotten 1 or 2 of those max. since my Feb 2019 post, and they send it to an email on my website that has been up for ages in the public domain. It's all just a phishing scam and should be ignored. It's a "numbers game" ... they hope to find people with a guilty conscience that are dumb enough to respond. Throw enough stuff at a wall and some will stick.

This reminds me of a really twisted episode of Black Mirror that I watched recently (probably where the idea came from) but yes, it is indeed spam and I too received one a few months ago.
