Hi friends, in a separate thread a couple of years ago I drew a terrible picture of a green display monitor I've been trying to track down. My dad brought it home around 1981 with a brand new Apple //e.

It was time to get serious so I employed some help to create an "artist's impression"! Here it is:

Do you recognize this monitor? Obviously some details from 38 year old memories might be off, but I have a pretty clear memory of it as I used it every waking moment!

Key features:
- Tilt/swivel stand
- Green/amber monochrome display
- Dark perspex over the whole screen
- Minimal or no branding

Also, here are some monitors that are NOT the one. Although as you can see they share similar elements. Please kindly check these images to avoid repeat suggestions.

Not the right monitors:

Thank you so much in advance for helping me locate "the monitor that does not exist".

thanks so much. It's very similar in shape but a key feature that was definitely that was the entire front of the screen was covered in a dark perspex sheet with no buttons. I tried my best to show this in the artist's impression. This sadly this is not the one.

Are you sure the dark perspex isn't just an anti-glare cover addon? The only monitor brands of that era that resemble what you're looking for is NEC and Amdek (300a).

well you know I can't be one hundred percent sure but to the absolute best at my memories it definitely had a built-in perspex screen. there are others that have that for example the fourth from the last image that I showed of the kaga monitor has such a perspex cover. But the shape is wrong of the rest of the case. I know I'm kind of asking a lot but my memories are my memories and I think are correct.

well that's the one I've based my mockup on, but do you have a source for the comment that it might have come with an anti glare option?
Only the recess all the way around the CRT - others with that recess often had a glare-screen option - and often they'd get cracked over the years.

Joined up to post this, since I had seen this thread and remembered it when I came across these pictures of the NEC JB-1201M with the anti-glare cover still in place. Don't know if this equals your missing monitor, but it is proof that a screen cover did exist. Looks like some kind of auction listing: https://www.mercari.com/jp/items/m33240690112/

Wow thank you. That is very very close but mine didn't have controls on the front.

I've since come to suspect the monitor was made by Prince. See attached.
