"No escape from Reality...”
Destiny 2 - it has been transferred to Steam from Blizzard- wanted to make sure my stuff carried over and it did.

Wow, it is still fun, plus I had gotten the PC version for FREE from Blizzard - great deal...

Fallout 3 (just finished the main story first time playing despite playing Fallout 4)
Fallout NV (going to start later this month)

World of Warcraft Classic- Been there done that, not too hard, just too grindy adios. ?
I am playing WoW classic right now.

While I am a long time Warcraft fan, and have been playing it since the first WoW in the mid 90's, I didn't play vanilla WoW. I loved Warcraft III and the Frozen Throne, but my Mac at the time didn't meet the minimum specs for vanilla WoW.

I started playing WoW in 2007 right after Burning Crusade was released, which in many ways was very similar to WoW classic.

I stopped playing WoW in 2016 when my youngest daughter was born, and started back up this past January, but couldn't really get into it and stopped playing by March. Legion seems like it would have been cool to play live, but I just don't have the time for it now. I still haven't done anything in BFA.

I had a month left of my time when Classic launched, started playing it, and ended up renewing my sub because of it.

I don't really game anymore, and I only play a few hours a week, but I am really enjoying Classic though, probably for the nostalgia.

Before Classic started, I jumped into the WoW Starter Edition just to refamiliarize myself. It was unbelievably easy as to not be enjoyable. Then Classic started, it was the difficulty I remembered from beta, and I had a nostalgic feeling until I left Telressel and hit Dark Shore, then blah.

I even spent an evening playing with a friend and it was fun, but it was not enough. Part of the problem is I’ve been enjoying Fallout 4 on a second play though so much! You actually have more conversation with NPCs, than just get this, get that, kill this, collect that. ;)

My daughter pulled me back into World of Warcraft to play WoW Classic... and yeah, it's WAY too grindy. The "good old days" of 20 people standing around, waiting for an NPC to respawn so some lucky person can be the first one to attack and get credit for the kill, and complete the quest. Ugh.

So, back to playing regular WoW after a break of... (checks calendar) six years. I missed out on 3 expansions. Funny how each expansion tried to take the game in different directions, which they would subsequently abandon in the next expansion.

Been playing Rebel Galaxy Outlaw on PC. Good game. Not as good as the first, imo. I preferred the capital ship battles. But this is a damn good Wing Commander-ish space dog fighting game.

The issue with starting fresh with WoW is that there is so much content ahead, so they had to make it far easier than ever before to level up. Daunting for people thinking there are 120 levels ahead, especially if leveling was at the pace of the vanilla days (or classic is now).

Understood, but if someone is starting from scratch it undermines the quality of gameplay, at least it did for me. Now I only lasted two weeks in Classic, not because it was too hard, but because of been there, done that and it makes me sad. ?

In honesty it does not really get any 'harder', retail is now just for casual players who want to make progress in short bursts. Each class has its own self-healing to the extent there is no need to group for anything in the open world. At lvl 120 you can easily solo all the previous content on your own even 40 main raids.

I keep hearing about this story stuff regarding the recent Wolfenstein games compared to Youngblood and having played every game in the series since ‘81 I just wonder ‘huh’? The plots have always been razor thin, and all I have seen recently is more overly-talky unskippable cutscenes :)

Youngblood is OK, but not worth even the $30 current price.
Speaking of Wolfenstein, I just purchased a 2 pack on Steam on sale, Wolfenstein New Order, and Wolfenstein Old Blood. I know Old Blood is a prequel, but which shhould I play first? :)

I played them in release order, and feel that works pretty well ... sure Old Blood is a prequel, but you certainly don't miss out playing them in either order. IMO The New Order is better (well, aside from Wolfenstein II New Colossus, which is better than any game in the series since 2001's 'Return to Castle Wolfenstein')

Was Old Blood released first? My impression was no, but not based on anything in particular.

I’m done, can’t go back, but it does not make me happy to say that. Wow just strikes as so shallow now, kill, collect, harvest, escort, rince wash repeat. And you don’t have a home, consume zones and move on, even if it has that instanced home space. ?

I mentioned it before but engaging solo RPGs like Oblivion, Skyrim, and Fallout 4 have ruined me for the WoW routine, and even if it is said Fallout 4 combat is repetitive, it has more variety, more percieved depth, at least for myself.

Although F4’s settlement building has been critiqued, including by myself, it still offers an immersive environment where you can feel ownership for your efforts to rebuild the Commonwealth, this combined with a killer main quest line to find your lost child, in combination of deciding which faction(s) need to be snuffed.

As a member of all 4 factions, that was a wrenching choice until I discovered there was a way to keep your friends alive. Bt’s, I had no friends in the The Institute (one of the factions if you are not familiar). ;)

Thanks, I’ll play them in order! :)

Yea, this always bothered me. I started playing during Burning Crusade, and it seemed like as soon as Wrath came out, BC content was pointless other than leveling and doing some professions.

Even a lot of the profession items that would take so long to grind materials for was pointless to have once a new expansion launched.

The gear from legendary gear was sometimes nerfed after new expansions making the grind seem pointless.

I am not sure what could be done, but it would be nice if blizzard would keep past expansion areas relevant.

I have been a very long time Warcraft fan. Bought the original Warcraft RTS for Mac in the 90's, then Warcraft II plus the expansion. Warcraft III was absolutely awesome, and I played it so many times. The stories and lore of the game, especially with Arthas, really pulled me in.

I preordered the remastered Warcraft III, and look forward to playing it.

I am currently playing classic and might go back to retail at some point. I quit during Warlords after my latest daughter was born, and came back for a few months earlier this year messing around with Legion, but quit when I got to Argus area. I haven't touched anything in BFA.

I love Classic so far, and probably will a lot more when Battle Grounds gets added.

Yeah, it can be a little grindy, and waiting for NPCs isn't always so fun. Socially, it is much more fun. I have joined more groups for quests in the past two months than I have on retail WOW since Pandora.

As for trying other games, I am sure there are other good games out there, but I personally do not have any motivation to start a new one.

I guess I am not a "gamer" anymore, and just stick with classic games. New stuff just doesn't interest me anymore.

A friend tries to get me to play a MMORPG called Tera, which I probably would give it a try if it had Mac support. But I really don't feel like investing my time into a new game at this point.

WoW definitely has a social component, however half of the people in my gaming clan, who started playing WoW Classic, are now playing other games, although this does not mean they have completely quit Classic. I can keep track of them on Steam. ;) Note when playing Classic steam typically shows them online, but not playing a (steam) game.

I've started Wolfenstein New Order and the game is fun, but some of the stuff is over the top, besides formation flying that looks like you are on top of one another, there's jumping from one aircraft to another, sure... ;)

Nov 2019-
  • World of Warships- Hanging in there with small doses. Cursing it on occasion as usual. :)
  • Fallout 4- I recently blew up the Institute on a second play though, made a post in the Fallout 4 thread about the best achievable ending using the vanilla game, which imo is destroying the Institute, but saving the other three factions which is achievable by choosing certain quests to complete. The game tries to funnel you into a situation where just 2 factions survive.
But then I discovered several mods that opens up the game and the primary quest chain, so that there are new options, such as taking over the Institute instead of blowing it up, or throwing in with it to the detriment of the other factions, my most severe critique of the game.

And since I had just blown up the Institute, I rolled the game back 2 month, to a mid game point, installed these mods and off I went, having a great time molding a new future for the Commonwealth. These mods blend in well with the game, and if you want to read about them check this link: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/fallout-4-discussion.1939095/post-27960993. Post 54 in that thread discusses Best Ending options without the use of mods.

A bit gutted, I bought biohazard and biohazard 2, been playing the first one and got the 2nd when it was on sale. But haven’t played it, then updated to Catalina and now I can’t play either. It really sucks big time.

32 bit older games is why I have no plans on ever installing Catalina.

I only went back this time because a bunch of people I game with jumped in, it was Classic, and could have been nostalgic. I think I am really done, when I go back and could only last for 2 zones. And I paid for a 3 month subscription and used only a couple weeks of it. ?
