Hi,
I got an 2012 MacBook Air with 4GB RAM which has El Capitan running. I would like to upgrade it to a still supported OS that receives security fixes.

So Catalina, Mojave or High Sierra (last year if I understand that correctly)

My concern is that the 4GB RAM will be pushing it for the machine, so I am wondering I would be be better off with High Sierra compared to the latest Catalina.

I don't really care about OS features, just would like to have an OS that still gets security updates and use it as a web browsing machine...

I had an i5/4GB 2012 11 inch Air and had Catalina running on it without any issues. You can put Mojave or Catalina and have no functionality issues. I have since moved on to a 2015 11 inch Air. Either way you should be okay. :apple:

Catalina would be good, just wait for 10.15.2 to drop, but if not then don't go below Mojave.
