I went to the AT&T store today to sign up for the unlimited plan and DirecTV and when we got to the point that I needed to pay I told her I wanted to use Apple Pay. I held my phone over the reader and it was accepted. She then says "what are the 3 digits on the back of the card?". What? Why...
Just came back from trip to Europe (Poland most of the time) and used Apple Pay in every place I did any shopping and in every restaurant.
It worked like a charm and to my surprise no one even question or asked. Please remember Poland is not even a place which officially supports Apple Pay. None...
I'm trying to understand the incoherent policies of a local supermarket (a member of the Albertson's LLC megacorp) regarding Apple Pay. Like many American merchants, they're tardy about accepting EMV "chip-and sign" cards. The hardware is in place, but they haven't got the software ready yet...
