Looking to pick up a MK for the 5th gen (2021) 12.9 for my daughter. I’m trying to find a used one, and a lot of the ones I’m seeing say they fit 3rd, 4th, 5th gen, but I want to be sure this is actually true.

Thanks!

That appears to be correct. This is from the Apple Store:

It was confusion back when Apple released a new MK specifically for the 2021 iPP models… but content creators decided to compare new MK (3rd, 4th and 5th) and the old one (3rd and 4th).

They found out the old one works well with the 2021 iPP models... there’s miniature difference in how it fits, but it closes and opens where it wouldn’t matter if one decides to go with the old one.

I brought an original MK recently for use with my 12.9 M1 iPad Pro. I too was worried if it would fit correctly but decided to go for it after watching a few YouTube videos.

Have no fear it fits perfectly. You would never know it wasn’t designed specifically for it. I think the only possible issue is if you use a glass screen protector as the gap between the screen and keyboard when closed is a couple of mm less than the updated MK. Other than that, it fits like a glove.
