I think the 17" and 15" LCDs are totally overpriced and underspecified anyway.
It's time to drop the 15" LCD alltogether and lower the price of the 17" model to be more inline with other makes.
Here's a comparsion for you in price order (UK prices including V.A.T. from a local store) :
Apple 17" : £816.62, 40ms pixel response time, 1280x1024, 350:1 Contrast Ratio, ADC
Samsumg Syncmaster 171P : £586.32, 25ms pixel response time, 500:1 Contrast Ratio, DVI
Apple 15" : £515.82, ADC
Baring in mind that samsung supply apple's screens for the displays (as far as I know anyway), the price/spec difference is unforgivable.
Is a proprietory connection standard and Apple design worth an extra £230?
I don't think so
is a smaller screen, a proprietory connection standard and Apple design worth only £71 less ?
Not a chance and this model is designed by Porche (it's still ugly though)
