I have a brand new iPod Touch that I haven't used yet (or registered).

Since the 2.0 firmware is being released today (or tomorrow) do I qualify for a free upgrade, or must I pay the $9.99 "upgrade" price? According to the package literature, my model already has the 1.1 upgrade installed.

I know that's what has been publicized, but again, the 1.1 upgrade cost money (was it $7.99?) for iPod Touch owners, but since the unit was sold after it was released, it didn't cost me extra to get it.

I'm wondering if the 2.0 upgrade will be the same, even thought it's not "in the box" currently.

$9.99 upgrade for Touch users.
Free for iPhone users.
