Uhh...
I have been wondering if the upgrade from 2gb to 3 is worth it. Well, this article answers that question. It is very hard to get any reliable info about this b/c I do not have enough money to waste on a 3gb stick of ram. According to Lifehacker- they see a significant performance increase.

Not very scientific but it confirms that there is a very noticeable speed bump. Check it out for yourself.

2.33 MBP 1g/2gb/3gb speed test

And for you naysayers, here is the counter argument, but pay special attention to "Dave" in the comments sections. He claims an 11% performance bump with or without matched pairs.

RAM upgrades are funny. They only help if you need the RAM. Monitor your page ins and page outs to see how rapidly they grow. If they grow quite rapidly after a restart and whilst just using your machine normally, then you will benefit from more RAM.
