Hi,

I just got a USB C hub with a 2.5Gbps ethernet port and have been using it with my 2019 13" MBP.

However when I run a speedtest (locally or over at Speedtest.net) I reach around 1.8Gbps at best. When testing this (same hub, same ethernet cable) I get the full 2,5Gbps on my work Windows laptop.

I am running the latest version of Sonoma 14.2.1.

Thanks for your help or suggestions.

First, Sonoma 14.3.1 is current.
What else do you have plugged into that hub? with the overhead of other devices connected to it, 1.8Gbps sounds pretty good but it probably just comes down to the Mac driver not being as good.

Thanks for your reply.

I will run an update.

So far I tried with just the ethernet plugged in to the hub and have not noticed any change when plugging in my external monitor.

Depending on the NIC in your USB hub, Apple may not have an optimized driver, as @chrfr mentioned above. I use an adapter from D-Link and get 2.3Gbps.

Thanks, I guess I'll stick with my current speed which I can't complain with.
