Hi Friends,

I wanted to consult the wisdom in these threads and the kindness of our user community for an about-daily kernel panic I am seeing with my 5k, 27-inch, Late 2014 iMac using all OEM internal hardware (no third-party RAM upgrades, etc.) since upgrading to Catalina, which has not improved with subsequent updates to Catalina (currently on 10.15.5). I fully appreciate this is a 6-year-old machine; at the time, I bought it with maximum specs, and it is holding up pretty well to everything I throw at it (aside from current discussion). A million thank-yous to anyone who might be willing to help me troubleshoot.

Here's what I'm seeing:
- iMac is used all day every day for work and hums along without issue starting around 8am
- Almost every night, a kernel panic happens sometimes around 6-9pm. The time varies a bit, and I can't seem to link it to any scheduled process. It usually happens when using Safari or when resuming from sleep. It does not seem to be related to the intensity of processor or RAM use.
- Apple Diagnostics ("D" during startup) reveals no issues
- Issue is reproducible even when removing all peripherals except for Apple mouse and keyboard
- I have recreated the issue when using in Safe Mode at least once

Here is the most recent error report from last night's kernel panic:
panic(cpu 6 caller 0xffffff8005d78738): "a freed zone element has been modified in zone kalloc.128: expected 0xdeadbeefdeadbeef but found 0xffffff80651a6e50, bits changed 0x2152416fbbb7d0bf, at offset 88 of 128 in element 0xffffff8045a8f880, cookies 0x3f0011f58407bf82 0x5352150d8e0419d"@/AppleInternal/BuildRoot/Library/Caches/com.apple.xbs/Sources/xnu/xnu-6153.121.2/osfmk/kern/zalloc.c:1229

Uninstall Symantec. You got a lot going on there.
Thanks so much for the feedback! I will get on this ASAP. Do you know (offhand) if this is a broad issue with Symantec, or something showing up more specifically with my configuration (as I do see 9 or so hits above in the logs)?

I do like the software (overall) and wouldn't mind a re-install it there was a chance that might help things.
