Right now, the SE is the only iPhone left with TouchID. $499 has become the starting point to get FaceID iPhone (XR). How long will Apple keep the 2020 SE?

It's an interesting dynamic as well with the pandemic. With the iPad Air getting TouchID on the power button, will Apple take a step back and keep TouchID (or even add it) on iPhones longer? I'm sure the iPhone 12 was already designed and put into stone well before the pandemic. But it's up in the air for 2021 onwards.

Will the 2020 SE remains, or will Apple actually design a new iPhone (eg. an A13 powered XR with touchID on power button?)? It certainly will look better for the lineup once they all sport the same screen design.

The SE will be around for years. Cheap to make and priced at a cheap amount for a new iPhone.

It won’t be going anywhere for a while yet.

Indeed. The 2016 iPhone SE was introduced in March 2016, officially discontinued in September 2018, but Apple kept selling it until March 2019, which gives it an almost 3 year run.

I expect the 2020 iPhone SE to be around well into 2022 at least.

And it still supports iOS 14. ;)

It’s about time Apple gave the option of BOTH FaceID and TouchID on one device, it would be most welcome and make iPhones even more secure, there is no such thing as “TOO secure” after all.

Definitely want to see TouchID on the Power Button on iPhones like on the iPad Air 4.

No way Apple will sell an iphone for £299. It will stay at £399 until they discontinue it. There may be offers with third party retailers though.

Why not? It’s almost a year old, they’ve dropped prices on phones in the past by $100 when they hit their 1 year anniversary.

I think they will keep the SE and ditch the 11 and XR.

Too many phones in the lineup as it is.

The 2020SE is an ancient design, but a damn good design.

I don’t think it’s going to stay around, based on my subjective experience with friends and family.

It seems the people who want the smaller phone would pay more (the mini).

I have many friends who bought the SE simply because it was a new iPhone and not expensive.

If Apple can sell the Xr for $400 next year (as example) and charge a premium for the 13mini, they won’t be losing sales and making more profits off the people who will pay the small phone premium.
