Slo-mo video at 240fps not recording at full 240 frames on iPhone 14 pro Max.
Is this normal?

I see only between 182/185 fps when looking into the info of the recording.
When the iPhone is restarted it’s 240FPS again.
However after some time it’s back again at 182/185 fps.
Or even lower.

Even with full sunshine it’s around 180 fps..
Another restart of the iPhone fixes it again but only for some time.

Read about this behavior on the iPhone 13 pro.
Never had this on my iPhone 12 and older.

Anyone seeing this when there IPhone 14 pro is already up and running for some time and record a slowmotion on 240FPS and only records at around 180 fps !

I don't know if the iPhone does this, but if there is not enough light, it would have to slow down the frame rate in order to maintain the exposure.

Have you tried it outside on a sunny day?

Yes, this is exactly what iPhone does based on my experience. About 220 FPS in a well lit indoor environment.

Yes even with full sunshine it’s 180fps.
Tried indoors.
180 fps.
Restart iPhone.
Same recording now 240 fps
Even in an almost dark room it's 240fps after restart of the iPhone.

For some reason after sometime it's slowly going back to 170/180 fps and another restart is needed for get it back to 240fps

This behavior is not correct

Exactly like this 13 pro issue

I have also disabled auto fps in the camera setting.

Nice feature but now I end up with strange fps values while filming with 60 fps and stutter in play back with panning shots (fps like 33 or 44 or 43 etc etc.)

Hopefully I am in control of the fps after this settings change and this also makes sure slowmotion is always 240.

Did some action filming yesterday with 60 fps with full sunshine and al footage where 44 fps or 32 etc.

The light was enough for 60 fps.
IPhone 12 which I also had luckily recorded everything on 60 fps.
All exposed correctly so no idea why this settings thought that 34 fps was max for the light conditions.

Auto fps also makes an optimalisation for file size.

Happy I could turn this option off.

And indeed after sometime slowmotion fps is low (first image)
Reboot and in the same light and environment 240 fps again (second image)

Nothing to do with how much light there is.
Even in full sunshine it was 170 last week and after the reboot it was back again to 240FPS.
So overtime the FPS of the slowmotion is decreasing until a reboot.
We see the same on all iphone 13/14 pro's with our friends with there 13/14 pro.

We did a test with 20 iphone 14 pro users.
And they all have this issue. (Also some 13 pro users)
Slowly and slowly the fps is decreasing in the slowmotion option when filming.

And again even with full sunshine etc.
Rebooting the iPhone and it's back to 240fps immediately.

Cannot believe no one has this issue.
This is a nasty bug.

And still no one at this forums has this issue or does not care ?
The issue is still there for all IPhone users after iPhone 12".
After som time the FPS is down to 177 or less etc. etc.
Restart fixed it for some time.
Nothing to do with less light.
Even straight into the sun it's still there.
