I have a AGP G4 500Mhz, and I've always been told that although it's a rare configuration, because it has 4 RAM slots, the OS limits it to 1.5GB, and 999MB per app.

I'm betting OSX lets an App use all 1.5GB if it needs to, but can someone check (maybe borrow some 512MB DIMMS) if under MacOSX a G4 can recognize 2GB of RAM?

Thanks.

2 gigs: yes in NetBSD

Don't know about OS X yet, but I doubt it wouldn't work.

The motherboards work with 2 gigs - someone in the NetBSD team tested it to make sure NetBSD would work with it.

OS X will be running on 64 bit G5s next year, so I'm sure that the virtual memory system won't croak over an extra 512 megs.
