Video editing, the bigger the better, depending on your graphics card of course

* Not stating that video editing takes a lot of GPU, but some GPUs (older ones since we don't know the computer) can't use certain resolutions

My primary monitor is a 23" Sony... my secondary monitor is a 15" Sony, wall-mounted. I use the second monitor mainly for widgets, iTunes, MSN Messenger, etc... basically, all of the informational-type stuff I don't want getting mixed in with my main work windows.

I just got gateway's 22 incher for $320 last weekend with a circuit city coupon! It's awesome so far. Has a plethora of inputs. My 360 easily connects and can play in 1080i! I'd recommend it. It's a nice size, coming from a 17 inch LCD.

That's a nice monitor, though if I may, I'd recommend the 24" Dell 2407FPW, since it's only $599 at the Dell Outlet. A little more, but a lot more screen real-estate, ya know?

How can your XbOx play at 1080i resolution on a computer display?

It hooks up to the xbox via Component input, so 1080i for me! So, you just press a touch sensitive button on the monitor to switch to xbox, then right back to a computer monitor just as easily.

This would be my present to my self, monitor mainly used for video editing.

A monitor used for video editing needs to be able to reproduce color accurately. Video editors need to be able to judge color and match it from cut to cut. Often video that is cut together was shot of different days or with different cameras so color matching is an issue.

On the other hand for games, general office work, web surfing and watching entertainment programming "Big bright and cheap" is all that matters. So when someone says that their monitor looks great, ask if their primary use of the display is photography

That said. Apple monitors are great but the Dell 2007wfp and 2407wfp monitors use the exact same LCD panels as Apple's ACD and are known for color accuracy The LCD Panels are "IPS" type displays where as most gaming and general usage panels are "TN" type. See here for more http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TFT_LCD#Types

Impossible, the Gateway 22 inch has a resolution of 1680x1050, that's too small to display a 1920x1080 resolution (1680x1050 is also the resolution of the 20 inch ACD/Dell, and the inability to display full HD is one of their drwabacks)
So, I expect your screen crops the image, or even worse, downresses (is that a word?) it.

Nice buy, though

I have the 20.1" Gateway (same native res of 1680x1050), and it definitely scales down the image. Whenever there's a lot of vertical motion in a game or movie, the image starts swimming. It's best to run at 720P.
