With my new 27" now ordered and due to ship in mid January, I'm strating to look around for hubs, drives etc. to replace the USB2 devices I have in my current setup.

I have found a Four port hub from D-Link that should cover that side of things, but I'm still looking for a top notch 3D USB3 writer for my new Mac.

Found this one on Amazon and wondered if anybody has any experience with it? Reliability, OSX compatibility etc.?

Correct me if I am wrong, but wouldn't any blu ray writer be able to do 3d? I know when I burn a 3d film to a dvd, it works just fine.

iThink you should buy the Blu-ray writer from a member of the Blu-ray Disc Association. Such manufacturers are: Sony, Lite-On, NEC, HP, LG, Pioneer and Philips.

Sony develops & sells expensive BD-authoring software (for studios):

and

(50.000 US$ - 100.000 US$ / license)

so i think their hardware is probably the best. I heard also good things about LG. I'm sure you can find a suitable USB 2.0/3.0 enclosure for the BD writer.

Going to close this as resolved...I bough the Asus, and am very pleased with it...Rock solid and pretty quick. Now building up my BRD movies to iTunes.

I did burn a couple of disks as test's but you do lose the 3d...winding up with an excellent 2D copy, but since that's not why I bought the drive, 2d is fine...Unless Apple decide to release a 3D iPad...
