Hi all

My friend has an AT&T 3GS with baseband 05.16.05. His provider is Telus in Canada and I've been unable to get the Telus SIM card to work in the phone, after using a number of different unlocks. We used GreenPoison, redsn0w and finally updated to 5.0.1 to see if redsn0w would unlock it then. Cydia had a white icon and I just now searched that there's a way to fix it. However I don't think this will resolve the SIM issue because of the baseband.

I'm not sure if I need to update the BB to the iPad 06.15.00 or leave it?

If I do that, do I need to downgrade to 4.3.3 or is there something on Cydia that will unlock a 5.0.1 iPhone 3GS in Canada?

And if I do THAT, I didn't see that you needed SHSH blobs saved to revert so is there a workaround for that?

For the love of science, show me the answers!! Thanks :D

tl;dr how do i unlock a iphone 3GS 5.0.1 with a BB 05.16.05 in Canada for Telus?

Fixed

Fixed ;)

-revert from 5.0.1 to 4.1 using an older version of itunes (google it)
-if you get errors just put it into PWNED DFU mode (step i found)
-you'll get that 1510 error or something (that's good)
-then DL tinyumbrella, click your phone, then exit recovery
-use redsn0w to install just cydia (NOT the ipad baseband at the same time)
-let it go through, your phone turns on
-then turn your phone off, run redsn0w again
-uncheck cydia, check ipad baseband

VOILA YOUR PHONE IS UNLOCKED
