Hello,

Can a Macbook Pro output features such as 4K, HDR, and Dolby Atmos to my 4K HDR television?

For example, I have a 2016 MBP while an associate has the 2018 model. By using my USB-C to HDMI cable, can either of these laptops provide the aforementioned features?

4K HDR availability was advertised as a Catalina feature, but only for "2018 or later models with a 4K display". Apple has never clarified what this means, and nobody seems to be able to get it to work.

hmm. I guess it’s experiment time. The phrasing (4K display) reads as an external video source. I have a high quality cable so I guess I should just give it a shot.

I wonder if my 4K purchase from iTunes will play and, additional, my .mkv rips.
