Just switched from ATT to Verizon with my "ATT" iPhone 12 Mini. I saw the Verizon tech put a 5G sim in the phone. My wife's iPhone 8 supposedly won't do 5G so he put a different sim in her's.

Everything's fine but I also had a backup iPhone SE (2nd edition). Sometimes when I'm out of the country, I take my sim out of my phone and put it in my backup SE as I don't wqnt to lose or have my regular phone stolen or lost.

So my question is would my SE work fine if I put the Verizon 5G sim in it? And a few times, I've gone "local" with other countries's sims.

Reason for the switch of carriers, ATT coverage in Vancouver is not the best. And I have never seen it pickup a 5G signal in the 8 months I've had it whereas the Mini shows 5G in several areas in Vancouver.

Should work. A SIM activated in a 5G device can work in a 4G/LTE device.
