Looking for opinions here.

To me, the most impactful component of screen size is not the diagonal measurement but rather the width because it directly affects the size of the keyboard and how the device is perceived and handled in your hand. It also affects the width of characters on the screen with respect to how many characters will fit on a single line.

I've used a 6s and an 8plus. I found the 6 to be too narrow for me and the 8plus a bit too wide. The new 11 and 12 pro models have width measurements that are closer to the 6 but moderately between the 6 and the 8plus. I went to the Costco in my area (Apple store still closed) and handled a 12 pro for a while. It seemed like a good compromise, but I only spent a few minutes with it.

If you have the same observations that I have (6 too small, plus too big) and have gone to a pro model (11 or 12), how did you find it after using it for a while?

You’ll probably find the regular iPhone 11 too wide too. I’d say the 11 Pro, 12 mini/reg/pro are more for you.

iPhone holding comfort is a function of hand size. Smaller hands struggle to grasp bigger phones.

I'm probably going to give a pro model a shot. The mini is narrower than the 6/7/8. I wouldn't even consider that one since the 6/7/8 is too narrow. My hands are actually medium to large. Typing on the 6/7/8 felt really cramped. It's just the that plus size seems a bit awkward. I'm hoping the pro width is wide enough The pro did not feel awkward at all when I was handling it.

Display size / display width

6.7" / 2.80"
6.5" / 2.71"
5.5" / 2.69"
6.1" / 2.54"
5.8" / 2.45"
4.7" / 2.30"
5.4" / 2.27"

The 6.1" fits really well for most people and I can see why Apple chose that size to be their mainstream form factor.
