Local music and maps, more room for apps. 64GB costs peanuts now too. You can get a 64GB microSD card from a name brand for $10, a 128GB SSD is less than $20.

No idea what’s in their pipeline, but I do agree with the others, there are probably some things coming (like downloading maps) that would make extra storage space useful & extend the useful life of the watch. I have 32 GB on my Series 7 & I only have around 5 left.

I think you already can download maps.

Obviously anything older than 32GB is useless in this day and age.
You completely missed the point. These device get increasing storage capacities over time because
a) tech moves forward and increase capacities become the norm, and
b) they need more storage capacity to store more things (music, podcasts, apps, maps, health data, etc).

It's like asking why anyone would need a faster CPU than the ones we have now.

True. Watch series 9 is great for version 10 but version 15 it may not be. I remember back in 2018 it cost me a bit to get a 64GB SD card but these days it’s peanuts.

Don't know specifically about the watch, but nowadays software updates use up a ton of memory during installation.

A have a Windows laptop with 32 GB of disk space and I can't update it any more. It's a paperweight.

If you don’t have cellular, you can put your music collection on your watch. Handy if you don’t want to run with your phone.
It is useful to presave music on the watch also if you don’t want to drain the battery very fast… a workout with cellular music streaming lasts no more than 90 min from full new battery.

Can be they are paving the way for offline watch-only maps too on next versions. 32GB seem enough on my current experience right now though, but wouldn’t be a problem having more space of course.

There's no such thing as too much storage. Just too little storage. But it does seem like a convenient way to price tier otherwise identical products.
