I'm sorry if this has been answered before....

I have a 320GB Seagate USB2 Portable Hard Disk Drive and was wondering if I can store all my music and videos onto it and just hook it up to the Apple TV?

If I am able to do that I'm ordering an Apple TV tonight

Nope, sorry. :(

Out of curiosity, what is the usb port there for? there's gotta be a hack for functionality. someone, somewhere, is locked in the basement, with their 8-core Mac Pro, feverishly working on it.

Apple says the USB port is for diagnostic purposes. But some enterprising young hacker may find more devious uses for it

EDIT: Arg, beaten to the punch!

That's what I couldn't work out, there's a USB port there that does less than my 486. I just thought it may have been functional but I didn't find the right part on the Apple web site.
