Hi all,

Does anyone know the actual screen size of the Mini 6 vs the Air 2? By actual screen size I mean usable screen area, not the dimensions of the device as a whole.
For some background I'm looking to upgrade my mum from an Air 2 to a Mini 6, but she's quite badly partially sighted so any reduction in usable screen is potentially going to be a problem. I'm hoping that even though the Mini's going to be physically smaller it's going to make up for it with its smaller bezel, but I don't really want to have to buy the device just to find out...

If anyone reading knows the answer or has both devices and wouldn't mind doing some measurements it would be very much appreciated.

Cheers.

mini 6 vs Air 2, both @ 100% font size

For me, text is harder to read on the mini 6 compared to Air 2 at this scaling.

mini 6 vs Air 2, mini 6 @ 125% font size, Air 2 @ 100%

Text size around the same on mini 6 and Air 2 but you get phone layout on mini and there’s less content on screen.

Good comparison. For someone with eyesight difficulties, I'd avoid the Mini 6 (I do have one) - they'd be spending a lot of frustrating time fiddling with fonts, zooming, etc. across multiple apps and end up with a so-so display of reduced content. I'd go with a larger iPad for her.

(Mostly) everything is shown 20% smaller. 264 ppi versus 326 ppi.

There are, of course, accessibility settings that you could try out on the Air 2 to see if they would help with visibility. But starting with everything 20% smaller is going to make it that much more difficult.
