Ads crashing apps

Two games I've got on my iPad, iMahjong ( and I can't remember the name of the free pong game...jirbosomethingorother...), have suddenly stopped loading. It looks like a black, empty ad box tries to load with a countdown 3-2-1-0, but the ad never loads or goes away. Any idea how to fix it?

Are you connected to a 3G network or WIFI?

You might want to go into airplane mode so the ad can't try to load from its server.
