Advisable to clean install High Sierra?

I don't have the energy to reinstall all my third-party apps etc.

But since High Sierra is introducing APFS is it advisable to do a clean install?

I'd like to do an in-place update on my Macbook at home to see if certain incompatibilities occur with such programs as Capture One, Lightroom, etc.

Will there be an advantage to clean install?

Unless your system is running rough, there no real reason to clean install.

No, but have at least a Time Machine backup, ideally a clone as well.
