You are using the latest version of AP? Which version of Monterey? In the past one solution in case of a very slow startup of AP was to duplicate AP, delete the „original“, rename the duplicate (remove „copy“ from the name) and then start it. See here.
Then again the latest AP version shouldn’t have that problem.

MacOS is the latest update as of a couple days ago.

Affinity Photo is the “latest version” (?) for M1 as of a couple days ago. I didn’t see any updates available for it.

* I don’t remember the version numbers for those, and I’m not near my computer.

** Did the new MacOS updates break Affinity Photo?

Is this doing a taxing process in AP..?

Running AP on a 10+ year old MacPro with Mojave with no beachballs.
Maybe the intel version runs better than the AS version......

double checked...

Affinity Photo 1.10.4 for M1
macOS Monterey 12.2.1

AP takes ~13 seconds for the app to launch (the icon just bounces up and down for that long).
I'm just using the default AP settings as it came. I haven't changed anything.

Any thoughts?

Same version here on (old) Intel.
I have never changed any preferences, everything is default.
Just checked, 9 seconds till app open.

As you have tons of Ram and fast CPU, maybe it's an issue with the M1 GPU specs causing beachballing....?

Not yet. I’ve been pretty busy lately. I will when I have more time.

Thanks for the suggestion! ?

Just opened on my 2017 iMac in about 5 seconds - that's to the full working screen.
Maybe delete it and re-install?
