I can set and play an alarm on my homepod but the one thing I want to do but can't is set the homepod alarm to play music instead of the alert of the sound that the homepod normally plays I wonder if anyone knows how to do this? or what commands to ask Siri. It would make a change to wake up each morning to music rather than the normal Alert from my homepod that I normally hear

I believe it was introduced with 14.1. If you’re on the latest software, go to the edit alarm screen and it will be there waiting for you...
